Event in Seattle - sold out!

UPDATE 11/12 - It looks like this event has sold out!

I interrupt this book tour to let you know about a very cool event coming up in Seattle on Tuesday. I understand there’s still some space for both the reading and related dinner, although it’s very limited. So if you want to go, rsvp right away.

Leite’s Culinaria is hosting its popular Talking With Your Mouth Full event outside New York for the first time, and it’s coming to Seattle. (OK, I admit, I talked David Leite into this…) First, a selection of Northwest food writers will read their work aloud. (Get a sense for what this means by listening to a sampling of audio from the inaugural event in New York last January.) The readings will take place at Richard Hugo House from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for Hugo House members, $12 for non-members. Due to limited seating, you must make advance reservations via email.

Afterward, at 8:45, celebrated chef Tom Douglas will prepare a multi-course meal featuring foods from some of the pieces read aloud as part of the program. The dinner will be held at Palace Ballroom; the menu is $50 per person. To reserve for the dinner, email christinal@tomdouglas.com.

Here’s the lineup for the evening: "Waiterly Conduct" by Jess Thomson, "Pumpkim Risotto" by Greg Atkinson, "Knee-Deep in Her Deep Freeze" by Nancy Leson, "Gimme Head" by Angela Garbes, "Plums" by Greg Bulmash, "Everything But the Wool" by Nicole Aloni, "Pride of the Norwegian Wood" by Jessica Maxwell and to finish, I’ll read "Thanksgiving in Paris" from The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry.

Proceeds for the evening go to a scholarship fund for narrative food writing, sponsored by Leite's Culinaria. In addition, ve several generous donors and sponsors have contributed to the event to assure it's a smash success: Stone-Buhr Flour, Salish Lodge & Spa, Third Place Books, Dry Soda, Theo Chocolate, the Tom Douglas Group, and, of course, co-sponsor Richard Hugo House, where the readings will take place. Kathleen,

Wish I could make it to this event - thanks for letting us know about it. I did see you at Wordstock in Portland, Ore. this weekend and blogged about it on my weekly post at: http://heatherstrang.blogspot.com. You rock!

I'm visiting Paris for the first time in Sept. 2008 and I'm also a food writer/lover: http://heatherstrangnowds.blogspot.com. Thank you for the inspiration.

Wishing you much continued success,
Heather :)
