Bye bye Noordam

After 10 days, eight ports of call, three days in Rome, our fifth wedding anniversary and Mike's 45th birthday, we finally ended my stint as a guest chef on the MS Noordam for Holland America. Forgive a bit of back-dating, but even at the crew rate it was deeply expensive to spend much time online while onboard, and posting them all in one day struck me as incoherent.

I'm jet lagged and weary from our return flight via London as I write this, yet still managed to get up the energy to start some chicken stock, now happily gurgling in the background...

I LOVE Holland America! We went on the Veendam years ago and the food was exquisite. I bet you were an excellent celebrity chef, how exciting for you Kathleen.

Kathleen, I was on the Noordam and in your first cooking class. We had such a wonderful time meeting you and Mike. You will be glad to know that I no longer use my Cutco knives and I bought a nice, sturdy Henkels chef's knife - and I will never put it in the dishwasher!! It has changed my kitchen life!! Your cooking class was the best one that I've ever taken... keep up the great work!
